The German Centre Taicang and bdp are jointly hosting a workshop on AI and Audit, using the case study of a German company in China. The focus will be on how German businesses can approach data security challenges in China—and how these are linked to AI-based auditing practices.

German headquarters and their Chinese subsidiaries constantly exchange data— in HR but also other business areas—between Germany and China. Both German and Chinese regulations must be observed simultaneously. But how can compliance be ensured in Germany? Which AI audit solutions are used in Germany, and which are common in China? The workshop will also address questions of control, fraud detection, and prevention.

Dr. Patrick Bedué, IT-Auditor (IDW) at bdp Germany and Lars Christopher Krieger, Attorney at bdp Germany, will provide a comparative analysis of German AI driven audit solutions and data security regulations from the perspective of German companies operating in China.

We want to know what you see – so as a special session, participants are invited to discuss current trends and the impact of AI on HR in both Germany and China.

Workshop Highlights

  • Governance in Practice: Contrasting approaches to data security and auditing in China and Germany (regulatory logics and policy cultures – “centralized/fast” vs. “decentralized/transparent”)
  • Data Security Regulations: Comparing GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) in Germany/Europe with PIPL (Personal Information Protection Law) in China
  • Leveraging AI in Compliance and Internal Audit: Frameworks and Tools in Germany and China (e.g. COSO, SOX, IDW PS 980, BAIT)
